Carleton Williams
The Man the Scholarship Is Named For
Born in 1929, the second of eight children, Carleton Williams was educated at Government High School and began his working life at the Treasury Department, then Navios Corporation.
He became an entrepreneur in 1964 as a contractor for a housing development, expanded into retailing building supplies, then introduced McDonald's to The Bahamas and purchased Caribbean Bottling Company. He served on boards including New Providence Development Company Ltd., the Central Bank of The Bahamas and Automotive Industrial Distributors Ltd., and earned his MBA from the University of Miami at age 50.
In 2016, at age 87, he resigned as Chairman of the Board, and the scholarship was created in his honour.

Applying
What the Scholarship Application Requires
- A copy of the applicant's passport or birth certificate
- Official transcript for Grade 4 and Grade 5, plus the first semester transcript of Grade 6
- A letter of recommendation from the applicant's school
- Mother's and father's employer job letter featuring annual salary
- Letter of acceptance and entrance exam results from a participating private high school
- A letter of intent, an essay of 100 words maximum written by the applicant
- A passport photo

Backing Bahamian Athletes
Powerade sponsors Bahamian decathlete Ken Mullings, who qualified for Paris 2024. Powerade has also supported the BAARK Potcakeman Triathlon for more than a decade.
